Making Its Retreat…Finally!   Leave a comment

I do believe all this snow is finally ready to make a retreat…however begrudgingly. The patterns it creates as it gives way to Spring are something to notice as well.

Although primarily a painter, I have also made a few ceramic vessels in my time.  It is fun to see how the finished glazes, in this particular case a glaze called Oil Spot,  when viewed up close and personal give the impression of an abstract painting….or perhaps something one would view under a microscope.  One spark of creation, in this case a ceramic bowl, can be the springboard for another piece of art…a painting.

Winged Creatures Great and Small   Leave a comment

In the fading light of a rather frigid February afternoon in Chicago, these two winged friends huddled on a window sill in an attempt to catch the last warmth of a small shaft of sunlight.  The decorative elements on the building, as well as the two live “winged creatures” made for an interesting shot, and quite apropos at that.
